  1. Release Roadmap

Is it possible to get an email or other alert when new releases are coming out? Do you know when Active Reports 9 will be coming out (approximately)? Our website depends on Active Reports and we are trying to make our upcoming release plan and want to stay current with our Active Reports version.

  2. Change the E-mail text

How do we change the text of the e-mail that gets sent with automated reports? This is very important to us as the default text is unacceptable to the business users. I can't find mention changing the text in the help file or in any of the configuration options.

This feature is now available with the latest version of ActiveReports Server. Thanks for everyone who has commented and provided feedback for this feature. I hope your business users will benefit greatly with this flexibility to specify their own subject and email bodies when scheduling reports.

  3. Include the capability to add a comment to the report design

When I change an existing report, I would like to keep a change log to remind me what change I made and why. I can use this to share with other users of the report so they are aware of changes.

  4. How to assign parameter value to my store procedure at run time

I created a store procedure in SQL which I need to pass three parameters
    1> ID
    2> Start date
    3> End date

I can pass value to ID through user context but can any one tell me how to pass value for "start date and end date" as user should select any date range.

I am creating a report which will display data for employee who got an incentive money.

Now lets go through an example.

Let say employee with ID=1000 have submit his incentive on daily basis say for $50 for each day
And employee with ID=1001 have it…

  5. Any Sum/Count functions outside of the data model?

If I join 2 tables to get detail data yet in some reports want to sum a given field from the detail dataset, how would I do this?

  6. Is there a way to map an attribute, that is the integer value of an enumeration, to its string value?

Our entities persist their enum properties as integers in the database. These columns are, of course, shown as integers in the ActiveReports generated model. Is there a way to add an attribute that will be the string value based off the integer attribute?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and questions. I am sure this will be helpful for others with similar requirements.

  7. iPad support

We should be able to use Ipad for working with ARServer.

  8. Report headers and footers

I may be missing it, but is there any way to define headers or footers for reports (separately from tables) that will display on each page of the rendered report?

These would probably need to include the ability to define dynamic content (e.g. a client name or page number)

  9. Implement Filters in reports with the web based report designer

    Hi,

can I create a filter in report in such a way that it should be successive.

    Let me explain with example:
    I have a table employee
    EID GroupId Name
    100 1000 ABC
    101 1000 XYZ
    102 1000 Ep1
    103 2000 Peter
    104 2000 John

Now I am looking for a filter so that user can filter on the basis of EID or GroupID but if user select a GroupID 1000 then only EID (100,101,102) should show in filter EID.

    Can anyone help me.

  10. Schedule

It would be nice to be able to manage schedules via the API. So if we integrate reports into the system people could schedule them.

  11. Use Relative Dates to set default dates

I like the Relative Dates feature but it is only available for scheduled reports or picking at run time. I would like to save Relative Dates as the default date parameter, so users only have to pick dates occasionally. We have lots of monthly reports that run for "last month"

  12. Multiple dependent parameters

I understand that it is currently not possible to define multiple report parameters, with the available options for one parameter dependent on the selection for another. E.g. param1 = "Book author", param2 = "book title" - param2 would be populated depending on the choice of param1 and only available when param1 has been specified. This is fairly essential for many of our reporting requirements

We added this in our v1.4 release released on April 16, 2012. Just go into the same filter prompt dialogs we had before and there are options to get an “available values” list based on the value of other prompts.

  13. Add PowerShell Support for Admin Users to manage the server.

Create a CmdLet to allow batch and scripted management of the server for things such as report cleanup, user management and so on..

  14. Designer events (onModify, onLoad, onSave, onPreview, onDesign, etc...)

We have integrated the designer into our website and we would like to be able to do the following with the embedded designer:

    1. We would like to have our own set of buttons for saving the report. At the moment, we have no way to know when the button should be enabled or disabled. We would need to know two things for this to work. First we would need to know if the designer is in preview or design mode and second we would need to know when the report in design mode is modified. It would be helpful…

You can entirely control authentication in ActiveReports Server from your code by implementing a SecurityProvider. A high-level overview is in our blog at http://www.activereportsserver.com/blog/self-service-reporting-in-multi-tenant-environments which continues in a more detailed walkthrough with code at http://www.activereportsserver.com/blog/extending-activereports-server-for-multi-tenant-ad-hoc-reporting
Also be sure to see the links to documentation and other articles at the end and throughout those articles.

There is also a full example Visual Studio project of implementing a SecurityProvider installed with ActiveReports Server in the “SDK\ActiveTunes.SecurityProvider” (by default c:\ActiveReports Server\SDK\ActiveTunes.SecurityProvider\).

If you need any further assistance please click the “Contact Support” link on the left sidebar at http://community.activereportsserver.com and we’ll be happy to help you with your specific implementation.
